About Axion

Why we're building the AI Control Plane

Building AI applications shouldn't require rebuilding AI infrastructure.

Axion exists to change that.

The problem

Why Axion Exists

Every company building AI eventually encounters the same challenge.

The first version

The first version of an AI application is easy to build.

The production version

The production version is not.

As AI applications move from prototypes to production, teams quickly discover that integrating an AI model is only the beginning.

They need to connect multiple AI providers, route requests intelligently, manage reliability, control costs, enforce guardrails, add memory, orchestrate tools, and monitor performance.

Instead of building the product they set out to create, engineering teams spend months rebuilding the same infrastructure.

As applications grow, infrastructure requirements grow with them.

Teams suddenly need routing, retries, failover, cost governance, observability, memory, security, and integrations with external systems.

Most organizations solve these problems independently.

The result is duplicated engineering effort, fragmented tooling, and slower product development.

We believe this infrastructure shouldn't have to be rebuilt by every team.

It should exist as a platform.

That's why Axion was created.

The platform

What is Axion?

Axion is an AI Control Plane built for production AI applications.

Instead of assembling multiple infrastructure products, developers integrate Axion once through a single API.

Behind the scenes, Axion manages the complexity of production AI, including AI providers, intelligent routing, governance, observability, memory, and tool orchestration, so engineering teams can focus on building products instead of infrastructure.

Whether you're using OpenAI, Anthropic, or multiple providers, Axion gives you one consistent platform to build, deploy, and operate AI applications with confidence.

One Platform. One API. One Control Plane.

Built for Production

Axion isn't designed for demos.

It's designed for applications that people depend on every day.

The platform combines the capabilities modern AI teams need into one unified system.

  • Multi-provider AI Gateway
  • Intelligent model routing
  • Reliability and automatic failover
  • AI governance and guardrails
  • Cost management and budgeting
  • Request analytics and observability
  • Smart Memory for long-term context
  • MCP Hub for secure tool orchestration

Instead of managing multiple disconnected products, teams use one platform designed to work together from day one.

Three layers

The Axion Platform

Axion is built around three core layers that power modern AI applications.

01

Gateway Engine

A production-ready AI Gateway that connects every major AI provider through one OpenAI-compatible API.

Manage authentication, routing, reliability, governance, analytics, and observability from a single platform.

02

Smart Memory

Enable AI applications to remember.

Store conversations, user context, application knowledge, and long-term memory so every interaction becomes more personalized and more useful over time.

03

MCP Hub

Connect AI models with the tools your business depends on.

Manage Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, APIs, databases, and business systems through one platform, allowing AI applications to perform real-world actions securely and reliably.

Unified control plane

Why Axion Is Different

Today's AI infrastructure landscape is fragmented.

AI gatewayObservabilityRoutingMemoryGuardrailsTool orchestration

One product provides an AI gateway.

Another provides observability.

Another manages routing.

Another handles memory.

Another focuses on guardrails.

Another connects tools.

As AI applications become more sophisticated, stitching these products together becomes increasingly complex.

Axion brings these capabilities together into a single control plane designed specifically for production AI.

  1. 01

    One platform.

  2. 02

    One architecture.

  3. 03

    One operational model.

Our Principles

Production First

Every feature is designed for reliability, scalability, and real-world production workloads.

Open by Design

Use your own AI provider accounts, choose your preferred models, and avoid vendor lock-in through an OpenAI-compatible interface.

Developer Experience Matters

Infrastructure should reduce complexity, not introduce it. Axion is designed to be simple to integrate, intuitive to use, and consistent across providers.

Unified by Default

Routing, governance, observability, memory, and tool orchestration shouldn't exist as isolated products. They should work together as one platform. That's exactly what Axion provides.

Direction

Our Vision

We believe every production AI application will eventually rely on a control plane.

Just as modern software depends on cloud infrastructure, tomorrow's AI applications will depend on infrastructure that manages models, memory, tools, governance, routing, and observability.

Our vision is to build that infrastructure layer.

A platform that enables developers and organizations to build AI applications faster, operate them more reliably, and scale them with confidence.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple.

Eliminate the AI infrastructure developers repeatedly rebuild.

By providing a unified control plane, we help engineering teams spend less time managing infrastructure and more time delivering value to their users.

  1. 01Integrate once.
  2. 02Build faster.
  3. 03Scale confidently.

Looking Ahead

AI is evolving rapidly.

  • 01

    Applications are becoming multi-model.

  • 02

AI agents are becoming more autonomous.

  • 03

    Memory is becoming essential.

  • 04

    Tool orchestration is becoming standard.

  • 05

    Governance is becoming mandatory.

The infrastructure required to support these applications is growing just as quickly.

Our goal is to make that infrastructure invisible.

So developers can focus on building great AI products, not maintaining the systems behind them.

The story

Founder

Rajarshi Patel

Founder & CEO

I believe the future of AI isn't just better models. It's better infrastructure.

As I built AI applications, I kept running into the same problem.

Before I could build the product itself, I first had to build the infrastructure around it: gateways, routing, observability, governance, memory, and tool orchestration.

The more I spoke with other developers and teams, the more I realized this wasn't a unique problem. Everyone was rebuilding the same foundation.

I started Axion to solve that.

My vision is to create the AI Control Plane for Production Applications, a unified platform that gives developers and organizations everything they need to build, deploy, and scale AI with confidence.

And we're building that future: one platform, one API, and one control plane at a time.
